Madison… State Representative Patrick Snyder (Schofield) released the following statement in response to Governor Walker’s 2017-2019 biennial budget address:

“This afternoon, Governor Walker introduced his 2017-2019 budget proposal to the Legislature. I am very excited about a number of items Governor Walker chose to include in his budget, many of which will have a direct impact on the constituents of the 85th Assembly District,” said Snyder. “I particularly want to applaud the Governor’s major investments in K-12 public education.”

Governor Walker’s proposed budget includes a record increase of per-pupil aid over the next two years. Other areas of investment in K-12 education include supporting youth mental health programs, summer school grants, and special education workforce readiness grants.

“Governor Walker chose to support school districts that facilitate the connection between students with disabilities and employment opportunities,” added Snyder. “In order to address our workforce needs, we need to ensure that students with disabilities are given every opportunity to gain the skills they need to enter the workforce.”

“Over the next few months, the Legislature will review the Governor’s recommended budget. I will be holding in-district listening sessions to hear from my constituents. I encourage anyone and everyone to attend and get involved to make sure your voices are heard.”
