Madison – On Thursday, State Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette), Assembly Co-Chair of the budget-writing Joint Finance Committee, released the following statement regarding Wisconsin’s unemployment rate and jobs climate:

“Today, Governor Walker announced that our state’s unemployment rate is down to 3.7 percent. This is the lowest it has been since November of 2000. It’s clear that our conservative reforms are working; more people are back to work and jobs are abundant.

“While the national unemployment rate remains steady at nearly 5 percent, Wisconsin’s jobs climate continues to improve. As Assembly Co-Chair of the Joint Finance Committee, I look forward to continuing to prioritize our workforce throughout the 2017-19 State Budget process.”
