MILWAUKEE – Ahead of Vice President Mike Pence’s Saturday appearance with Gov. Scott Walker to support taking health care away from people who need it most, Nicole Safar, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin issued the following statement:

“As Republicans continue to push Speaker Paul Ryan’s dangerous health care agenda, they threaten to block more than 50,000 Medicaid eligible patients from the preventive health care they get at Planned Parenthood.

“So far, Speaker Ryan has refused to listen to his constituents, but it is becoming hard to ignore the voices of so many who value Planned Parenthood’s care. Just yesterday, theNew York Times featured the compelling stories of Planned Parenthood patients in Speaker Ryan’s district. Their experiences show the reality of patients who rely on Planned Parenthood.

Eighty percent of Americans oppose efforts to “defund” Planned Parenthood, and many patients credit Planned Parenthood with saving their lives. Republicans need to understand that not only is their plan politically unpopular, it’s dangerous, and people are weighing in using #DearPaulRyan to stop it. ”
