MADISON, WI – A resolution adopting of community-wide goal of 100% renewable energy goal is poised to be adopted by Madison’s city council. The resolution needs to be approved by the Board of Estimates and will then move to the full Common Council.

What – Board of Estimates Vote

When – Monday, March 13th, 2017 beginning at 4:30 PM

Where – City-County Building, Rm. 354

 

What – Common Council Vote

When – Tuesday, March 21st, 2017 beginning at 6:30 PM

Where – City-County Building, Rm. 201

Who – Citizens can attend and register their support or give public comment. Alders will consider the resolution and are expected to cast a final vote.

Why – Madison aims to take charge of its energy future by adopting aggressive energy goals for community-wide and city operations. This will position the city to be a leader in clean energy efforts that will help the business community and help address global climate change.

How – The resolution adopts goals of 100% renewable energy and also authorizes up to $250,000 for a consultant to help develop a plan over the next year for city operations to meet this goal.
