Milwaukee – The League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County is presenting a free public program titled “Engaging the Electorate: who votes, who doesn’t + strategies to boost turnout,” on Saturday, March 18. The program runs from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Wauwatosa Public Library, Firefly Room, 7635 W. North Ave.
The featured speaker is Charles Franklin, Professor of Law and Public Policy, Marquette University. Franklin is director of the Marquette University Law School Poll, the largest independent polling project in Wisconsin. Since joining M.U. in 2013, Franklin has used the poll to track political races of interest to voters and explore additional public policy issues.
Small-group discussions will follow the speaker’s presentation.
“The League of Women Voters has been dedicated to promoting citizen engagement for nearly 100 years,” said Mary Kae Nelson, president of the League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County. “There is room for much improvement in voter turnout, particularly in local elections, the results of which affect citizens’ daily lives.”
