“We are shocked that Republicans have passed bill in the House and are working on one in the Senate that would seriously damage our national health care system. Both would increase the number of uninsured by over 20 million according to the Congressional Budget Office, ” said Chuck Ogg of the Rock County Progressives. “Both would make large cuts to Medicaid, devastating to older, younger, and many middle-class as well as poor Americans. Medicaid pays for two thirds of those in nursing homes! Nearly one half of all births! Both bills would make health care prohibitively expensive for many with pre-existing conditions.  Therefore we are excited to have Rep. Debra Kolste & Dr. Katherine Gaulke speak at our upcoming educational forum on Health Care. Rep. Kolste of the 24th District serves on the Health Committee and co-authors the Democrats’ Health Care Protection Package, proactive bills that would ‘safeguard Wisconsinites from a damaging GOP healthcare bill’ (see below for additional info). Dr. Katherine Gaulke is Executive Director of WAFCC, the Wisconsin Association of Free and Charitable Clinics, and has traveled Wisconsin informing communities about the ACA and the health care gaps that still remain in this superior, if flawed system.”

This event will be held on Wednesday, July 12 at the Basics Cooperative Natural Foods Store in Janesville.  This is an independent event not affiliated with Basics.  The speaker will begin at 6:30 PM, doors will open at 6 PM. This event is free and open to the public.
