Galesville – Governor Scott Walker traveled to Galesville this afternoon to discuss the historic K-12 school investments included in his biennial budget proposal with Galesville Elementary School students, teachers, and administrators. The governor’s proposal lifts K-12 investment to $11.5 billion over two years, an all-time high, including $649 million in new state aids for all K-12 schools in the state.
“One of the things we heard time and time again last year as we held listening sessions throughout the state is that we need to strengthen our schools,” Governor Walker said. “This is just common sense because we know the education Wisconsin students receive today directly translates into their success tomorrow, and of course, the future success of our state as well. That’s why we’re making historic investments in K-12 education, including more than $20 million for the Galesville-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District. That’s real money that I know will have a significant impact on schools like Galesville Elementary.”
The Galesville-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District is estimated to receive more than $20 million in funding from the state under Governor Walker’s biennial budget, including:
- An increase of $832,312 in Per Pupil Aid. Governor Walker’s budget proposal increases per-pupil funding by $200 per pupil in Fiscal Year 2018 and $204 per pupil in Fiscal Year 2019 – the largest increase since the 2005-2007 biennium.
The Galesville-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District may also be eligible for further funding under Governor Walker’s budget proposal, such as mental health grants, energy efficiency incentives, and special needs grants.
