DELAVAN – Governor Scott Walker visited Delavan-Darien High School today, where he discussed the historic K-12 school investments included in his biennial budget proposal with students, teachers, and staff. The governor’s proposal lifts K-12 investment to $11.5 billion over two years, an all-time high, including $649 million in new state aids for all K-12 schools in the state.
“It’s great to be here today in my home town to highlight how our education proposal will benefit the school district and community,” Governor Walker said. “A top priority for us as we look towards the future of our state is student success. That’s why we’re investing more money education than ever before in the history of Wisconsin. I’m proud to say our proposal includes $30.1 million in funding for the Delavan-Darien School District, which will go directly into the classroom to benefit students, teachers, administrators, and parents.”
The Delavan-Darien School District is estimated to receive $30.1 million in funding from the state under Governor Walker’s biennial budget, including:
- An increase of more than $1.5 million in Per Pupil Aid. Governor Walker’s budget proposal increases per-pupil funding by $200 per pupil in Fiscal Year 2018 and $204 per pupil in Fiscal Year 2019 – the largest increase since the 2005-2007 biennium.
The Delavan-Darien School District may also be eligible for further funding under Governor Walker’s budget proposal, such as mental health grants, energy efficiency incentives, and special needs grants.
