SHEBOYGAN – Governor Scott Walker held a press conference today at Sheboygan South High School today to highlight the historic K-12 investments in his budget proposal, including $649 million in new state aids for all K-12 schools in Wisconsin, which lifts the total K-12 investment to an all-time high of $11.5 billion over two years.
“Since we first put forth our state budget in February, I’ve had the opportunity to visit 47 K-12 schools throughout Wisconsin, and I’ve heard firsthand from teachers and parents about how our proposed education funding will positively impact our school districts,” Governor Walker said. “There’s strong support for our historic K-12 funding. We’re committed to investing our Reform Dividend into student success to ensure we provide state aid at levels that provide needed resources for students while protecting property taxpayers.”
The Sheboygan Area School District is estimated to receive $173.6 million in funding from the state under Governor Walker’s biennial budget, including:
- An increase of more than $6.1 million in Per Pupil Aid. Governor Walker’s budget proposal increases per-pupil funding by $200 per pupil in Fiscal Year 2018 and $204 per pupil in Fiscal Year 2019 – the largest increase since the 2005-2007 biennium.
The Sheboygan Area School District may also be eligible for further funding under Governor Walker’s budget proposal, such as mental health grants and special needs grants.
