Madison – Governor Scott Walker issued the following statement today in response to a letter from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Seema Verma to the nation’s governors outlining their commitment to improving collaboration with states.
“Meaningful reforms to Medicaid, so that members and taxpayers get better outcomes, can best be done by the states. In Wisconsin, we are pleased to finally have an administration that will be providing us opportunities to do just that. A one-size-fits-all approach to Medicaid does not work. Wisconsin has shown we can expand coverage without having to buy into the failure that Obamacare has become, and if given flexibility, we believe states can be more effective and accountable.
“I will continue advocating for Wisconsin to the administration and Congress during this critical period as they look to replace Obamacare. Working with this administration, I am hopeful we can improve an already strong Medicaid program here in Wisconsin.”
