MADISON – Governor Scott Walker has proclaimed November 15, 2017 as Construction Training Day to draw special attention to Wisconsin’s construction industry during National Apprenticeship Week.

“Wisconsin’s construction industry has provided good-paying jobs for generations of working men and women, including over 114,000 workers last year alone; Foxconn’s $10 billion investment in our state will create 10,000 more construction jobs that need to be filled,” Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Ray Allen said. “Through major investments in programs like Youth and Registered Apprenticeship, and in collaboration with education, industry and other partners, Wisconsin is ready to support and further strengthen our construction talent pipeline.”

On Wednesday, November 15, numerous construction apprenticeship training centers throughout Wisconsin are hosting open houses, presentations and tours aimed at increasing awareness of the opportunities in Wisconsin’s vital construction industry.

November 12-18 has been proclaimed by Governor Walker as Apprenticeship Week throughout the state. Wisconsin’s Apprenticeship Week occurs during National Apprenticeship Week and provides an opportunity to celebrate the successes of the nation’s first regulated Apprenticeship program as well as put a spotlight on the high-quality careers an Apprenticeship program can provide.
